CASE STUDY

Paris Economic Development Corporation

Paris Economic Development Corporation

Administers 4A sales tax funds for the promotion and enhancement of job creation and retention and other economic development activities of the City of Paris through the development of incentives and short-term and long-term planning. Members must be residents of Lamar County (Resolution No. 2017-016), and qualified voters.

Their Mission Statement: To plan, promote, finance, and construct opportunities for the retention, growth, and attraction of businesses that enhance the level of employment, the economic base, and quality of life in Paris and Lamar County, Texas.

The Project

The Paris EDC distributed an RFP for a new website that would highlight its mission, incentives, recruitment tools, available sites, staff, board, and quality of life in Paris, Texas. DC Media had worked on several projects for the PEDC prior to receiving the RFP, and we were excited at the possibility of helping it create a stronger digital presence.

Since the organization was in the middle of a rebranding initiative, the timing of this build couldn’t have been more perfect.

Our main objective was to build a site that would serve the following purposes:

  • Strong Search Engine Optimization
  • Aesthetically Impressive
  • Helpful and Easy to Navigate
  • A Central Resource For Housing, Workforce and Quality of Life Data
  • Recruitment Tool for Existing and Growing Businesses

THE Process

We began the process with several discovery meetings with Executive Director Maureen Hammond, during which she outlined the most important topics to highlight on the site and gave context to key organizational drivers.

After the base design of the home-page was in a good place, we began working on a custom Site Selection tool that would function similar to a real estate website. We built a custom form in the back-end allowing PEDC staff to quickly enter data that would automatically fit the layout of the site. No coding necessary for their staff!

We also added in features for news articles, agenda notices, and success stories to function similar to a news site or blog with relevant articles by date.

The entire process was about nine-months from start to finish.
